Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi discussed the dangerous escalation in the region in a phone call with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

During the call, Safadi emphasized that the escalation in the region will worsen unless “Israel” halts its aggression against Gaza and stops violating international law – according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry

The two ministers discussed the repercussions of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, condemning the assassination as a grave crime and a violation of international law and Iranian sovereignty.

They agreed that stopping the aggression against Gaza is crucial for de-escalating the situation and preventing the region from sliding into a regional war.

Wang Yi affirmed China's support for the Palestinian people's right to freedom and an independent, sovereign state on their national soil in line with the two-state solution.

Safadi thanked Wang Yi for China's clear stance in support of Palestinian rights and condemnation of the aggression against Gaza and Israel's violations of international law.

“Both ministers reaffirmed the depth of the bilateral relations between their countries and their commitment to developing them further” – the statement concluded.
